How can we all sing kumbaya together in the campus quad when the security goons won't let some of us in? Tear down those walls Elisa, tear down those walls. Oh, one other thing. Let's lock less critical threads in the Help Forum as well.
When we do that it only makes us look foolish when others outside of our little community point out that we're censoring threads about censorship by locking them. Why you gotta go be like that? Flickr has a whole public content moderation system, so why the need to secretly apply hidden flags on individual images at Flickr? If you are going to censor people's images, be upfront about it and let them know.
Don't label an image "Safe Photo" as moderated by Flickr staff and then secretly remove it from search and other public site areas behind their back just because the image might include critical comments about Flickr. The fact that your recent "galleries" feature won't allow users to create "galleries" that contain NIPSA photos another dumb restriction , by the way, is only highlighting how many people me, included are currently being secretly censored.
It scares me to know that Flickr has no way to recover my content if it is maliciously destroyed by a hacker, myself accidentally, or most scary of all, some of your overzealous censor-happy underlings in the Flickr Censorship Bureau.
People are putting years of their lives into their photostreams at Flickr. This is more than just about their photos by the way. It's about living part of your life inside of Flickr. And to think that all of that can just be destroyed permanently and with no recourse with the touch of a button, well, that just's insane Elisa. The fact that Flickr still has no way to recover deleted content and, as admitted by your staff , ins't even working on it , well, that's wrong.
Have you read these lately Elisa? Did you know that you can be deleted from Flickr for being "That Guy. For being "That Guy. I hope not. Is it Jerry Yang? I doubt it. Is it Carl Icahn? Wait, don't answer that. Why the need to force a horribly subjective contract on your users who are investing thousands of hours on your site. Allowing Flickr to delete accounts because someone is "that guy," basically is the same as saying, "we can delete your account for whatever the hell we want.
A lot of the other terms are stupid too. You say don't upload content that isn't yours, but then your very own Flickr staff violate that rule. It will make people feel better when the exact rules are spelled out more exactly. Ok, that's it for now. I'm looking forward to the next managers meeting. Plus I'm looking forward to the invigorating breakout sessions at the next company offsite. Have you thought about having the next one in Las Vegas Elisa?
There is so much cool neon there worth photographing. Remember that time that you all set up that ice cream stand at CES Vegas way back when.
Too cool for school! Oh wait, no, I lied, one last thing. I'm going to post a link to this post in the comment section of the Yahoo blog, but I'm worried. In the comments section on your blog it reads "Notes: Please note that Yahoo!
Links of value to readers are welcome, but please use them sparingly - wield spam and you're banished forever. This is a moderated site and comments will appear if and when they are approved. We will review the queue several times daily, so please don't resubmit if your comment doesn't appear immediately.
Don't fear comments Elisa. Let everyone say whatever they want. It makes life more interesting. Give my best to Carol and the rest of the gang Elisa and know that even when I'm not at HQ it's still always Sunnyvale in my heart. I feel really bad but I rarely have the chance to return an email due to the setup of Flickr.
If anyone would like to chat, you can find me on Yahoo messenger. I am so grateful for all the love and support so many have shown me. Leaving Yeovil Junction station this morning. This is the locomotive on the back of the train. It was on a test train that passes through the station once every weeks.
It was pulling in for half an hour to allow a passenger train to pass it. My boyfriend Mike, who took this picture, sent it to me on yahoo messenger and gave me permission to post it. Read my intial impressions. I had the opportunity to take photos for the Department of Internal Medicine; I was all edgy because these doctors are effectively my bosses as I am merely a medical student. But they were all so cool and I had fun with them and most importantly, I got to witness how they go about their business as professionals.
This is Dr. Canono, good buddy of my sis and they were in med school together, so she knows my family well, and she is considered yet another big sis of mine. Entering Yeovil Junction station this morning.
Still would have wanted to be more in focus especially the droplet in midair. But there's always next time. Oh yeah, I was just in my neighborhood, so you might see hints of buildings, trees, and powerlines slightly obscuring the fireworks. Was pretty bummed that I got to the Gardens a little late and a lack of foresight in my case where I didn't buy the tickets to the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest before going to the Skyway.
So, I wasn't able to enter the other observatories. But hey there is always next time. Having waking up to this sunrise, there was never any doubt that I would take a shot of it But as always, you choose the best composition and the best edit.
When Yahoo has then been the answer to wealth and change for people they know, it then becomes difficult to change the idea a young person grew on or into. It becomes fused to the subconscious. Their minds are not wired to distill the wrongness of yahoo from what is right. Asides that, vices are thrilling. Even if we want to talk about how a Cardi B told kids to not be involved in gang culture, we have 50 other celebrities who own their gang culture with their whole lives.
Change is a power each human being has. You can choose what to accept and what to reject. They might be products of a system, but they still have a prerogative. Societal factors are only ever persuasive. We human beings are imbued with a perfect knowledge of right and wrong; good and bad. No matter how ingrained Yahoo is to these young men, somewhere in their minds, packed with the thoughts they discard, they know yahoo is wrong.
But as public figures and emerging role models that kids look up to, it might make sense to sensitize themselves on the stupidity of promoting Yahoo as a hustle which everyone must be involved in. They need to take some responsibility with where their lives are headed, but it will be hard when they look around and see how people profit from illegality and immoral acts every day through corruption and politics. It is about yahoo. If that means abusing the kumbaya camaraderie , then so be it.
It is a greater cause than the inner-circle fakeness of industry friendships. A merger most likely would trigger a lengthy federal antitrust review that will add paperwork and distractions. Having Yang, Ballmer and Icahn working in harmony can only speed the process. The longer it takes to close, the better for Google. At Microsoft South, er, Yahoo, Ballmer needs Yang as an ally to help stem the flow of Yahoo employees and sell the deal to his troops. Integration will be tough under the best of circumstances.
A deal now might — might — make it less difficult. And ironically, he probably stands to make millions of dollars more from a deal with Microsoft. But live by the stock, die by the stock.
For all the great things Yahoo and Yang have done — and they are numerous — taking the fight to the shareholders meeting means the first paragraph on his obit one day will simply describe him as the man who lost his company in a fight with shareholders. Sheindlin, who's preparing to hang up her robe, at least for this particular show, offered an example. A parent punishing a child for wetting their pants by making them sit in scalding water?
How do you do that! In my world, if that's the way you know how to parent, you shouldn't have any more children. Sheindlin would probably say something like that in her courtroom, where the parties have signed contracts to abide by her decision. But her decisions are not law. Before Sheindlin went on the air, though, she spent a quarter-century working as a litigator and a judge in New York's family court, which she said "toughened" her.
Her second career has been extremely successful, with Judge Judy having topped or nearly topped syndication records for all of its run. She knows that not everyone appreciates what she does or how she does it, but she doesn't care.
However, she insisted that she's not "gratuitously nasty or mean, without trying to make a point. You want to sit in a regular courtroom, go to a courtroom. While she's leaving her best known show behind after this season, she's already planning a new show, Judy Justice , for Amazon. Kaley Cuoco documents her Golden Globes loss with champagne, pizza and so much cake. Paris Hilton and Carter Reum got married on Thursday.
