How long to complete ffix

With the new pixel remasters , it is easier to play some of the older 2D games in an optimal way. To help make the search for what game to play a little easier, this list will tell fans how long it takes to beat each mainline Final Fantasy title.

One of the new games added is not a numbered title, but it is more highly regarded than other Final Fantasy games, and thus felt worthy of inclusion here. The tale that started it all holds up surprisingly well due to its straightforward nature and charm. Of course, gamers are better off playing one of the many ports instead of the NES original. The first release is plagued with weird bugs, causing certain vital gameplay mechanics to function abnormally.

The optimal version is the 20th anniversary edition released for the PSP. Its sprite art is gorgeous, and doesn't look jarringly cartoonish like the updates done to some of the later 2D Final Fantasy games. Often one of the two most celebrated 2D entries, Final Fantasy IV comes in as the second shortest entry. While not the first one to have a more complicated narrative, it is often seen as the first one that did it right.

Because of its strong story, the gameplay is relatively straightforward, and it is always easy to know where the next objective lies. Unless one is stuck at a combat encounter, the game should be a breeze to whisk through in less than a day's worth of a gameplay. Final Fantasy IV is also followed up by a sequel , though it is less celebrated than the other sequels from the series. Final Fantasy IV: Interlude only comes in at about 2.

However, the full sequel clocks in at about The second game in the series is often remembered as one of the worst. It pushed things forward with a more nuanced story, but the gameplay veered far from what fans are now accustomed to. The idea of characters leveling up as abilities were used led to the stats easily being broken by players attacking their own party members. Still, it's not horrid or unplayable by any stretch of the word.

People looking to play through all of the games won't find this one a slog. Plus, it's still on the relatively short side of things. This bodes well as it's probably the worst of the three games in terms of both gameplay mechanics and story. Fans of the original game will still have some fun with it, but everyone else might be better off watching the cutscenes on YouTube and skipping ahead to Lightning Returns instead. A single playthrough typically takes just over 27 hours, while completing all of the game's tasks will require a little over 72 hours of playtime.

Thanks in large to the omission of Lightning and the need to play as Serah though, this can feel like a lot of work for very little payoff. The Chocobo racing is a lot of fun, but everything else just feels like busywork. The most recent numbered entry was somewhat polarizing for fans. It looked undeniably gorgeous, but it was too easy and the battle system was not engaging enough, despite the fights themselves being marvelous spectacles.

Its length also wildly varies because of its structure. The first several chapters are brimming with side quests. One can spend dozens of hours doing favors for town folk, greatly inflating the playtime. After a certain point, the story puts the players on rails and beelines towards a finish. The third entry sees silent protagonists come back for a more straightforward adventure than its predecessor. Despite the simplicity of its narrative, it'll take longer than the prior two.

Like the first game, however, its charm and whimsy keep players glued to the screen the whole time, making the hours fly by like an airship. So i suggest you use some of the FAQ here and look trough some side quests that you want to do so you can get some good gear before bosses etc. I never uses the FAQ so i missed lots of rare items you only could get on some events and on one of the discs.

Hope i helped a little! User Info: crazyfishie. Anywhere between hours. User Info: BlankNoOne2. Casual playthrough You don't need to level much, just do what you like. User Info: chaosknight If the requirements of one of the ultimate weapons require you to get to the last part of the game in less than 12 hours, then you can go through the game a lot faster than that Every time a Yan's Comet spell hits, a kitten dies User Info: johndoh4.

These people aren't really giving accurate estimates. User Info: HyperSiIence. My first time took 32 hours, with a few of those hours being unnecessary grinding. It's incredibly difficult to give an accurate estimate because everyone paces themselves differently. Not really. You have to know the game backwards, skip all dialogue and CG movies and reset the game if you get into too many encounters to get to the end in 12 hours What level do people recommend being at for the final boss, and where's a good place to level up?

More topics from this board I just beat the game for the first time. It's so short! Well, not really, I've got about 40 hours into, but it just seemed like it was getting rolling, and now it's gonna end So many characters didn't get enough development Steiner, Quina maybe that's for the best, heh , Freya, Amarant That and because the system had too many technical problems when they released it.

Not buy a system because of Square? I was playing it until disc four, then I died after 40 minutes of play. I stopped after that. I think I'll go finish it on my new PS I don't think. Not buy the system because of one game. I've had mine since January and have had immense fun with it.

Onimusha, Shadow of Destiny, Sky Odyssey, etc. Anyway, that's not what this thread's about. When I beat FF9 I had about 60 hours into it. That seems sufficient to me. Though I somewhat agree with the character development. The game concentrated completely on Zidane, Vivi, and Garnet I think they did an especially good job on all the black mages and sorta shoved away the others. Though how in depth can you get with Quina?

Eat, sleep, crap assuming. He's like the group's life size tamagochi. Square's trying to make their more recent games too grandiose and, well, sappy. I think they're learning, though. FF9 was much better than I must just be having problems making myself clear. One last try. Sometimes, people will buy a system because of a game for it.

I was merely saying, that because of the last few FF games out, I am not as interested in the series. Clear this time? Sorry for all the confusion. This was all related to the original post, because Yam-Koo said FFIX was too short, and didn't give enough history on the characters, and at one point, the Final Fantasy games that were coming out definetly merited buying a system IMO.

Anyway, back to the original topic. Haha, I'll use my 1,th post to say that yes, in fact, I am getting too good at gaming. I can't really find a good place to talk about my fave RPGs Maybe we need an Ars Levelupica site in the vein of Ars Anime.

Ok, I understand what you're getting at morello. And I agree. Buying a system for one game is pretty lame, especially now when so many will be cross-platform in the coming months. What I'm wondering is if the FF games after 6 3 here in the US weren't as wonderful as their predecessors, why?

I remember when Celes flung herself off the cliff, I think my heart skipped a beat, and I played the crud out of that game again and again.

What happened? Where did Square lose its magic? What I think, honestly, is that Square has simultaneously spread themselves too thin and gotten too big. Seeing the sheer quantity of games being released by them these days, it's no real surprise that quality has started to suffer for the sake of quantity. Ah well, I guess we'll see if they get the "magic" back with FFX. I mean, they have released some absolute gems in the PSX era Xenogears, Final Fantasy Tactics, Chrono Cross, Einhander , but for the most part, they don't compare to the glory of the bit era.

Legend of Mana compared to Seiken Densetsu 2 or 3? At least at their current state. I mean, I dare anyone to create graphics as lush as Legend of Mana's graphics in a 3d game. I think part of it might just be that we're jaded gamers. You can only gasp for air at a certain amount of deaths before they just don't have that impact.

Cloud, Squall, and Zidane are all pretty dorky and clumsy. Tifa, Rinoa, Dagger are all just submissive heroines who don't really project anything interesting. I dunno if they got a new character designer or what, but I just haven't been attached to the new people. The MAIN thing, though, is the character's actions and motives. In FF4,5,6, the main character "felt" like they did what you wanted them to do. That's the main, important difference, as I see it.
